This project is, in part, about my on-going interest in how some landscapes can be read simultaneously as a defined space and as an object or figure. This project is also about my interest in interpreting less important and ordinary features and systems that define a landscape. I’m particularly interested in ordinary aspects of extraordinary places. These islands were situated opposite the overlooks that provide expansive views of and interpret distant landscapes and features within the national park and the Shenandoah Valley and the Piedmont landscapes.
